Australian bushfire crisis response Salvation Army Emergency Services crews and an army of fresh Salvo volunteers are continuing to cater to thousands of evacuees and firefighters as the bushfire crisis escalates around the country. Assist Evacuees from Flood-Hit Jakarta Salvation Army teams in Indonesia have been responding to New Year floods around the capital city, Jakarta, that killed at least 43 people and led to more than 190,000 being evacuated. Macau was lashed by typhoons Hato and Pakhar in 2017. The Salvation Army Hong Kong and Macau Command utilised its resources in a joint relief effort, opening its Corps (Church) and service centres in Macau for collection of donated items. At the same time, over 100 volunteers were mobilised in teams for distribution of relief supplies, door-to-door checking and visits, cleaning the streets and recycling plastic bottles. On 25 April 2015, a magnitude-7.8 earthquake struck Nepal. A number of houses were damaged or destroyed. Thousands of people lack water, food and shelters. Aftershocks and landslides make the relief work even more difficult. The Salvation Army has provided HK$500,000 for purchasing water and food for the survivors. On 3 August 2014, a magnitude-6.5 earthquake struck Ludian County in Zhaotong City in Yunnan Province, leaving more than 600 dead, over 3,000 injured, at least 80 thousand houses damaged or destroyed. Nearly 23 thousand victims were homeless. Two weeks after the earthquake in Ludian County, Zhaotong City, Yunnan Province, the survivors were moved to resettlement centres. On 22 July 2013, 7:45 am, a 6.6-magnitude quake jolted a juncture region of Min and Zhang Counties, Dingxi Prefecture of Gansu Province. As of 24 July, 95 people were killed and more then 1,000 were injured. Most of the houses in the affected area were severely damaged. The survivors are sheltered under temporary tents.
